Riad Chalymar

Stayed at the Riad Chalymar for 3 nights in early March. It's in an excellent central location for exploring Marrakech. It's situated down some narrow streets and not the easiest place to find but felt very safe even when returning late at night. The were staff very helpful and attentive and breakfasts were lovely. My room was clean and tidy and the shower and facilities were good.

An incredible, surprising experience. The street to the riad seems difficult but it's kind of Marrakesh, very close to Jemana Alfena, 5 minute walk. The breakfast was very welcoming and varied, they even arranged for us to be there 1 day earlier because we were going on a tour. Sara and Moahmed are kind and wonderful people, they gave us information, we shared tips, experiences and we made friends. Very kind, I love this people. Wonderful people. We loved it and we will repeat our experience at this riad. I recommend .

The breakfast were lovely and the staff were all very helpful whenever we required something. The Riad is also very well located as it is closed to all places of interest within the Old Town.

It’s a traditional riad that is well maintained and kept clean. Location is very convenient if you are looking to explore the Medina, Mosque or the Jamaa Al Fnna areas. The breakfast is delicious. All the staff are extremely welcoming & friendly. Both, Sarah and Mohammed were available to help make recommendations or support in any way to make your stay comfortable. The staff were exceptional and I would highly recommend the place.

We had a great stay at this beautiful riad. It had a private rooftop and nice, clean rooms ❤️ Really friendly staff that helped us out with everything we needed and even offered to show us the way to the bank etc. Really great location! It was close to the big square but also nice and quiet. Staying in a riad feels much more personal than in a hotel.

Nice place in the medina. Very nice staff and a terrace.

Every was perfect in this place, the location magical, breakfast was delicious! Guys were amazing and helpful! Also funny and friendly!
They gave us perfect suggestions for visiting the city and lot of informations.
I will come back as soon as possible!

Stayed 2 nights. We were actually brought to its sister riad Belkisse (also very nice) on the same street for 1 night.(look for the Belkisse sign if coming in from hospital street / lot)

Note - riad can be very hard to find as have to go through several turns in back alley so don't do it in the dark - ask for airport or pickup from the riad. Although the alley is relatively well lit for Marrakesh standards.
As with all riads it is an old building with its charms (so don't expect perfect "new building" standards) and the outside street area can look sketchy at first. 5 min walk to Jema El Fna and street to catch taxi.
Great value for the riad experience and nice breakfast with some homemade yogurt. Nice roof terrace with sun bed
Inside it is very well maintained (showers, bathroom, electric outlets and wifi all kept up to date) and clean with very nice staff and owner (Jean Jacques) - good communication

Amazing experience! Visit Marrakech for the first time and the Riad was the best place to stay. Staff looked after us so well and made us feel apart of their family!! I would definitely recommend it, especially if your traveling with females only!! Thank you Karim and Sufran (sorry if I misspelled your name) for the incredible service and hospitality, will come back and visit again!

The way to the hotel is quite hard to follow and if there isn’t anyone to take you there it will be very difficult to find your way. Not really good for single women. This is the main reason for not giving the max stars in my review.

The staff was very helpful and they treated us very well, they were polite and nice to us. The breakfast was very good as well and it kept you during almost all day. For sure we will keep this place in mind for our next vacation.

First at all I would like to say thanks for Abidu and Malika. They are great staffs helping us with everything that we needed. The best Morocco tea I've tried in my life it was made for Abidu and I will never forget this experience and how kind he is! The breakfast was also very delicious, thank you Malika! The hotel is close to the main attractions and you see Morocco exactly how it is. I high recommend and I could stay again! Thank you so much for everything! Karla and Cesar

Very good experiance. Good breakfast in mornings. Souffiane was very helpful at all times and speaks many languages. Riad right next to the main square in medina and neighbours extremely friendly. Moroccon Home enviroment . Recommend to everyone.

Riad Chalymar is literally 4-5 minutes to Jemaa el Fna. we enjoyed our time there we felt like we belong to that place like a family. Riad was quite and the breakfast was good. Soufiane was there for every thing we ask for. He recommended places to go and eat places to visit. In general he made a list with the do and don't of Marrakech. We also learned a few things about the berber culture with him. For sure will be back!

The Riad itself and its rooms are very authentic. Great roof-top views as well. But security is not the highest of priorities and I did not feel safe being there on my own, either in the Riad or in the surrounding dark alleyways.

The staff/owners are also a little too friendly, enquiring about what you are doing, where you are going, how long you'll be - all made me feel a little uneasy. The staff & their friends also drink/smoke on the property at night, which can be noisy.

Great for families, couples and groups of friends, just not ideal for a lone female traveller.

The staff are good. They can speak Arabic, English, French, And Spanish. Breakfast was good but can be improved. The rooftop terrace offers beautiful views and good place to unwind after a tiring day of exploring. The Riad, pool and our room are clean but there’s always a cigarette smoke smell. We also like the decoration of the Riad and it’s quiet. We were upgraded from Deluxe to Suite, which was a bonus (after a gruelling 10hr bus ride and food sickness from Merzouga!). Bed is comfortable and the room has heater. The Riad offers dinner menu but we didn’t see anyone dinning. We stayed for 3nights and according to Agoda/Booking.com we’re to get free dinner. However according to the staff, It apparently stopped last May and Agoda/Booking.com have not updated their websites. They still served us Lamb Tagine (bought from outside) since the lady has confirmed the dinner beforehand. Many shops and cafes since it’s in the Medina. Don’t miss the crazy El Fynna Square at night!

Few things we didn’t like are: WiFi is very slow (even though in common areas) and cannot reach our room; the guests smoke inside the Riad and you can smell it also in the room; the Riad is not easy to find (download maps.me for offline navigation); lastly, the alleys to go to the Riad are dark and dodgy. It can be scary but nothing happened to us. Overall, It was a nice experience but I would not stay here again.

Soufiane is a really Nice gentlemen. He took good care of us. The breakfast every morning was delicious! He also showed us Nice food places in marrakech, and helped us with the taxi and other excursions.

The riad is very Nice to relax and the rooms are very good!!

This Riad is only a short walk from the hustle and bustle of the main square in Marrakesh, yet is a calm, relaxing escape from it. We enjoyed our stay, which was helped by the friendliness of the staff there, especially Soufiane, who greeted us as we arrived and led us through the alleyways to the Chalymar. This maze, however, is easy to figure out, and becomes second nature. Soufiane helped make us feel at home straight away, making us a cup of Moroccan tea and answering any questions we had about Marrakesh and Moroccan culture and customs. He also recommended the best excursions to take, from day trips in the Atlas Mountains, to a 3-day Sahara adventure. Not all excursions are created equal, and they take pride in only recommending quality tours. Whatever you decide to do, a stay at the Chalymar is highly recommended.

The Riad is decorated for young people and is not so luxurious as the average of the Riads. However, the rooms are big and have good bathrooms. Breakfast is very good. he location is wonderful as it is near souk and Palaces Badii and Bahia. While staying there is seemed like if we were at home as Malika for sure receives you as family and you feel like if she could be your elder sister. We absolutely advise to stay there

Yes when you first see the location it can be a bit daunting, but you soon realise that the whole of the old town is set out along a maze of alleyways. Riad Chalymar provides a peaceful haven from the hustle and bustle of the main square and the souks. The rooms are comfortable clean and well serviced, ours was cleaned and the towels replaced every day. The breakfast was simple but fresh and filling with fresh juice and coffee or tea. Soufiane and the rest of the staff were extremely helpful and very friendly. Whether it's a trip you're after, advice on where to eat, directions to one of the many sights or advice on how much a taxi will cost, they are the people to ask.
Try it, you won't be disappointed, Riad Chalymar is a jewel in the Marrakech crown.

Ibrahim, who runs the Riad, has a great sense of service and was willing to kindly answer all our questions. Breakfast was good and abundant, rooms are comfortable and good value for money. Would go back here when I visit Marrakech next.

Had a amazing stay at this, riad staff were lovely, location was good if you want to get the true Marrakesh experience, very good value for money and the air conditioning was great. Thanks to the staff for making it an amazing experience.
The riad also offers excursions which are perhaps more trustworthy than buying them off the street and when we were charged more by a guide at a trip to Ouzoud, the staff gave us back the money and apologised to us which was great... I would recommend a trip to the waterpark because it is nice to go in a pool in that Marrakech heat.. On another note be careful of the locals trying to rip you off but overall an amazing stay.

We stayed here for a week. All the staff were really kind and helpful, especially booking us trips into the Sahara and the Atlas Mountains. Breakfast was lovely.
Only slight issue was that we weren't given a key to the actual Riad, just to our room. This wasn't a problem as someone was usually around to let us in, but a key to get in might be nice! But apart from that - perfecto :)) thank you very much, especially Sofianne for being such a great host, hopefully see you again soon!

Very friendly staff,great value for money,and more than that..you can have next day an Atlas 1 day unforgetable trip, plus Sahara,Essaouirra!And beeing at 10 minutes walk to Jemaa el Fnaa..best dinner you can get would be taken at tent no 1 in the right -back corner.Enjoy it! Plus a very nice terrace ..Felt very safe walking back to Riad, 2 am,4 am...They said the King,and Police made this possible.Welldone!

We spent the first 4 nights of our stay in Morocco at this Riad. From the very first moment we felt very welcome. Staff was very helpful organizing the transfer from the airport, picking us up from the taxi, showing us some nice hammam used by locals and also demonstrating how to cook Tajine.
The rooms were very good value for the price paid, clean and aircon and warm water working as expected. Other than the rooms, the Riad has multiple nice public spaces including a small terrace. It was just a pity, this terrace couldn't be used for breakfast or dinner.
As for the location, it was just perfect for us. Reasonably close to both the main square and Bahia palace, but still distant enough not to be disturbed by the noise of these areas. Although it is located in a little inviting backstreet, we didn't feel unsafe at all in the area.

I liked a loot the showers and the confort of the rooms, and silence, but the woman taking the reservation and money was rude, i think she is the manager or the owner, te terrase is also nice, andit would be great to have beer
